Manager Reflects On Narrow DefeatLee Clark felt Blackpool deserved more from their performance at Sheffield Wednesday this afternoon.
The Seasiders fell to a 1-0 loss at Hillsborough, with Chris Maguire scoring from the penalty spot for the home side.
But Pool created a number of opportunities to take at least a point from the Boxing Day clash.
“I don’t think my players got what they deserved today, in any way, shape or form,” the manager said. “Peter is adamant that he hasn’t made contact on the penalty and the angle I’ve seen is from quite a distance away. It’s hard to say.
“I think we’ve had the vast majority of the game, obviously towards the end they were going to pick us off because we were down to 10 then down to nine. The players have worked extremely hard and created numerous chances, the least we deserved was at least a point.”
Ishmael Miller’s dismissal in injury time leaves The Seasiders depleted in the attacking department for Sunday’s game against Rotherham, especially with Steven Davies now a doubt with a neck problem. Preparation will be vital.
“We’re running out of strikers, Ishmael’s suspended and Steven’s going to be a doubt. We’ll need to come up with a plan, a system to compensate for that.
“We’ve got to dust ourselves down, be big boys about it and go again. We’ll have a journey home preparing, the players will be in tomorrow and we’ll stay together tomorrow night as a group,” he added.
