31 December 2014

Midfielder Tackles The Questions

After returning from injury on Boxing Day Jacob Mellis comes under the spotlight in the Lowdown.

The midfielder reveals his key career moments and heroes away from the sport.

Who was your sporting hero growing up?
Frank Lampard. He is a similar position to me and likes to get forward. Anybody who scores 20 goals from midfield has to be an idol.

What is your career highlight so far?
Making my Champions League debut for Chelsea. I came on for the last few minutes against MSK Zilina.

And the worst moment?
Getting relegated with Barnsley, that wasn't good.

Who was your first junior football club?
Vernon Colts, a local team in Nottingham.

If you could change one rule in football what would it be?
We didn't have to do warm-ups, so we're instantly ready for the match.

Who is the best player in your position in the world currently?
Andrés Iniesta. He can do everything, through balls, assists, passing.

What is the one programme on TV you can’t miss?
I've been watching 24 Hours in Police Custody. I can't miss it, I like it.

If you could have dinner with two famous people who would you invite?
George Best and Denzel Washington, that'd be a decent party.

What is your trademark dish in the kitchen?
Stir Fry. There is just flames everywhere, it's simple but effective.

In a film of your life who would play you?
Denzel Washington, because he could play anyone.
