Striker On Late Equaliser
Dom Telford described his equaliser against Rotherham United on Sunday as a dream come true.
On his home debut for Blackpool, Telford came on in the second half to make only his second appearance for the club.
And the striker produced the goods, nipping in six minutes from time to earn The Seasiders a share of the spoils.
“It's something I dreamt about when I was a kid,” said Telford. “I've scored a few for the youth team and every single time it seems to get better, and there is no feeling like that.
“Unfortunately we didn't get the three points, but I'm absolutely buzzing about the goal. Hearing the roar and seeing the net ripple, it's something I've always dreamed about.”
The 18-year-old has been a prolific goalscorer for the youth team, and now hopes his first at first-team level will be the catalyst for more.
“I didn't think I had any right to get there, it's bounced over the top and I've given it everything. I can't remember much about it, I'll have to watch it back.
“I've been here since I was ten I have watched a lot of games and seen other lads score, so this is a special moment.
“I don't think I'll sleep for a week, but hopefully it's the first of many,” he said.
