Dunne Aims To Hit The Ground Running

27 June 2014

Left-Back Determined To Make Most of Opportunity

Charles Dunne says he's ready to knuckle down and prove himself at Blackpool following a disappointing time with injury.

The left-back, who signed for The Seasiders last summer but immediately returned to Wycombe on loan, broke his leg in December 2013 and has been without an appearance since.

But the 21-year-old is now determined to make the most of his step up to the Championship, following an off-season dedicated to strength and fitness work.

“I didn't go on holiday this summer, I didn't deserve to," he said. “I stayed in England to make sure I could be as fit as possible. I’m desperate to hit the ground running.

"I trained at the end of last season and managed to get onto the bench against Fleetwood, but I haven’t actually played since I suffered the injury.

“It’s much better now and much stronger. I broke it in December so it’s just been about building up my strength and getting ready to come to Blackpool.

“I’ve kept fit and I’m now ready to put the hard work in during pre-season. I’ve been able to do my strength work over the summer and it’s given me extra time. I feel I’m ready to make the step-up now."

Dunne arrives at Bloomfield Road during a time of transition, with many of the faces he met briefly last year departing the club in recent months. The fresh start is something he welcomes.

“It’s crazy how many players have left the club at the moment, but I’m looking forward to meeting the new manager and getting stuck into doing well here at Blackpool.

“I’m really excited and I can’t wait to get started," he added.
