New Manager Discusses AppointedNew Blackpool manager José Riga says he's ready for the big challenge ahead at Bloomfield Road, following confirmation of his appointment.
The former Charlton and Standard Liege boss put pen-to-paper on a one-year rolling contract last night and immediately set his mind to the task ahead.
"I had a good discussion with the chairman and we found an agreement," he told the official website. "I'm ready for the big challenge.
"It's not an easy challenge. I'm sure that with the support of the chairman and certainly the support of the fans - who really must be our twelfth man - I'm sure we can succeed."
The 56-year-old has many ideas for the future but his focus for the moment is to build a new team and unite everyone in the same direction.
"First of all, I will work hard to build a consistent team," he continued. "They know the way I like to play but first of all we have to look for efficiency. The only promise I can make - which I've done everywhere - is to give all I can give to the club. I hope for the same from everybody involved in the club.
"A club is not only the manager, it's all the people around and certainly the spirit and atmosphere created by the fans. We need everybody," he added.
