Success For The Youngsters
Blackpool’s under-13 girls were crowned BJFF tournament winners 2014, after they beat Doncaster Belles in the final over the weekend.
A brace from Verity Kinnon helped Pool come from behind and ensured they would win the tournament for a second time.
Blackpool had started the afternoon well, beating Haslingden 2-0, before claiming a goalless draw with Burnley.
Another 2-0 victory, this time over Darwen Rangers added to their run, before a 0-0 draw with Denton put The Seasiders firmly in contention for a semi-final place.
After Euxton were brushed to one side Pool were on the verge of progressing, and Ellie Spooner sealed a last four place with the only goal in a 1-0 win over Barrow Celtic.
Now in a semi-final with Ashton Pumas, a sweet volley from Spooner and second after the break ensured Pool would progress into the final.
Despite falling being to Doncaster in the first half, Pool struck back and after Kinnon had equalised, the striker tapped home the winner with two minutes left to seal the win.
Elsewhere Blackpool’s under-11s and under-12s were also in action, but were both beaten in the final at Lytham’s two-day tournament.
Credit must go to all our teams, and they’re back in action this weekend as they head to the National Skelmersdale Tournament in aid of NSPCC.
