Ferguson: Grind Out Time

21 March 2014

All About Results For Seasiders

Barry Ferguson says it's all about grinding out results between now and the end of the season, as The Seasiders look to pull further away from the relegation zone.

Just 10 games remain in The Championship and the focus will be on picking up as many points as possible, no matter the performance.

"I would love to play a certain way of football but it's got to the stage where we just need to go and grind out points," Ferguson admitted. "I realise that now and that's what I'll be doing with my team formation. We'll be going to win games but we need to be solid as well."

Midweek results made things that little bit tighter at the bottom, highlighting the need to stay ahead of the chasing pack.

"It's going to go right to the wire. We've got a small gap now but we need to make that bigger because the teams below us are going to keep working harder and harder. The boys know that and I know that.

"We'll start with one game at a time and that'll be Saturday against Huddersfield, who are a good team with a lot of good players."

The time has come for the players to front up, as The Seasiders aim to back-up a victory against Millwall last time out at Bloomfield Road. The atmosphere will also prove crucial.

"We need to make this place a fortress again because the fans against Millwall and the atmosphere was brilliant. I was buzzing on the touchline, it was great.

"This is where the players have got to really stand up and be counted, and I'm sure every single one of them will do that for me," he added.
