Preston 0 Blackpool 2
Blackpool Ladies under 13s reached a cup final on the weekend and will now face Man City, after they beat Lancashire rivals Preston.
Gemma Thrower and Verity Kinnon netted two first-half goals to seal a fine victory for Pool.
The Seasiders took the lead early on when Thrower followed in on Beth Slater’s opportunity, and punished some hesitant Preston goalkeeping.
Then with 20 minutes gone Blackpool doubled their lead, when Kinnon bent a fine effort around the goalkeeper from all of 30 yards.
After the break Preston threatened a comeback, with a number of chances, before Thrower came close to a Blackpool third, as the visitors finished victorious.
Afterwards the coach shared his thoughts: “We had three players out, but it was an amazing team performance and a testament to all their hard work this season in league games and at training.
“The whole team worked very hard and tactically they were fantastic and stuck to the task. They have been rewarded with a final against Man City which will be a tremendous game.
“I would also like to thank the parents from both teams who adhered to the FA's Silence weekend for a semi cup final.”
