Williams Takes Up New Role at Shrewsbury TownBlackpool FC can confirm that Club Secretary Matt Williams will be leaving the club on Monday 26 May to take up the post as Chief Executive at Shrewsbury Town FC.
On his decision to the leave the club, Williams said: “Leaving Blackpool is one the toughest decisions I have ever had to make, but I have been given a fantastic opportunity at Shrewsbury Town and the prospect of trying to emulate Blackpool’s success at Shrewsbury is something that excites me.
“I have had an incredible 12 years at Blackpool and I will take away many great memories.
“I would like to thank Karl Oyston for all his advice and support during my time here, both professionally and personally; without his guidance it is unlikely I would have been offered such a position."
On the news, Chairman Karl Oyston added: “Obviously it is a big disappointment for the club, but I fully understand and support Matt’s decision.
“I know he will go to Shrewsbury and do well, he is ready for the challenge and the step up and I wish him every success.
“He knows where I am if he ever needs to bounce ideas off me or ask for a second opinion and he will be always welcome back at Bloomfield Road.”
