Bloomfield Road Pays Its Respects

24 November 2014

Tribute To Iain Hesford Prior To Bolton Game

Bloomfield Road paid its respects to Iain Hesford prior to the game against Bolton on Saturday, following his sad passing at the age of 54.

Former team-mate Derek Spence led a delegation of ex-Pool stars laying a wreath in memory of the goalkeeper, as the ground broke out in applause for the man who made more than 200 league appearances for the club. The current players then took to the pitch moments later donning black armbands as a mark of respect.

Hesford, who was at Bloomfield Road to watch the team in action against Wolves in September, also played for the likes of Sunderland and Hull City during his career.

His funeral takes place on Friday.
