Manager's Injury UpdateLee Clark says he wants the injured José Miguel Cubero back in his squad “sooner rather than later.”
The Costa Rican has been out of action since September with an ankle injury, and has now flown to his native country to have it assessed.
Yet to have the midfielder available for selection, Clark is keen to see him in action.
“I knew José before I came to the club, I saw him on international duty and I was a big admirer of his,” said Clark. “We've sent him back to Costa Rica to see a specialist there, who'll deal with his ankle.
“We're hopeful that it won't require surgery. He might need an injection which would just put him out for another week, but hopefully we'll get good news back from South America on that one.”
Meanwhile Clark provided more positive news on Steven Davies, who came through Tuesday's friendly unscathed.
“We have Steven Davies back fit now, which is a real boost for us because Steven is a quality player at Championship level.
“I've always admired him. He is a good player, has a good technique, a good first touch and is a threat in the air.
“Add him to the other two main strikers we have in Nile Ranger and Ishmael Miller, I would say most clubs in The Championship wouldn't mind having those three in their squad,” he said.
