Report: Rotherham 1 Blackpool 1

A late equaliser from Steven Davies gave Blackpool a point against Rotherham United, with neither side creating enough chances to warrant the three points at the New York Stadium.

The Seasiders were the benefiters of a goalkeeping howler from Adam Collin, allowing Davies to roll his first goal of the season into an empty net.

It was enough for just one points however, after substitute Jordan Bowery had given the hosts the lead, capping a swift breakaway with a finish out of Joe Lewis' reach.

Both sides went for the three points, but a number of late crosses into the Rotherham box failed to clear one final golden opportunity for Pool.

Rotherham had started the better side, and Emmanuel Ledesma drilled an early effort wide, almost punishing Tom Kennedy for a slack piece of defending. And their menacing start continued when Tom Lawrence forced Lewis into an elementary save.

It took 18 minutes for The Seasiders to register their first attempt, and when Nile Ranger met Kennedy's cross his header had to be pushed away by Collin.

Debutant Stuart O'Keefe was the next Seasider involved in the final third, but he was crowded out following a clever set-piece from David Perkins.

Four minutes before the break Ranger's header took a touch on its way over the bar, but the striker's attempt from the following corner forced Collin into a simple catch.

And when Chris Eagles' free-kick was met by a weak header from the same player, it summed up an uneventful first-half in South Yorkshire.

At half time Lee Clark opted to swap Ranger with Davies, in a bid to mix things up.

The first moment of interest after the break arrived when Lawrence shot straight at Lewis, before Eagles saw his strike fumbled by Collin in the home goal.

It didn't take Clark long to make his second change, bringing on Nathan Delfouneso in place of O'Keefe, and O'Hara hit the next warning sign, firing wide of the mark.

However through Ledesma The Millers remained a threat, and his free-kick bounced inches wide soon after, while a typically brave block from Peter Clarke was the only thing between Ben Pringle and the opening goal.

Penalty appeals were then turned away as Eagles went down in the area, before the winger bundled Kennedy's next cross wide.

However on 78 minutes the opening goal finally arrived, as Blackpool were hit by a rapid counter attack led by Ledesma, as Foley's weak header was controlled and turned in by Bowery.

Pool's reaction saw Delfouneso squeeze between two men, before firing his effort high and wide of the goal, before Clarke headed over a O'Hara free-kick.

With five minutes left The Seasiders were given a huge helping hand, a hopeful ball forward by O'Hara was completely missed by the onrushing Collin, leaving Davies to find his bearings and roll home the equaliser.

Pool were then thankful that Alex Revell's header drifted over Lewis' bar, while Foley was well-placed to clear off the line from a threatening Rotherham corner.

At the other end Perkins blazed Blackpool's final chance over the bar, as the two sides were forced to share the spoils.
