11 November 2014

Defender Answers Quick-Fire Questions

Peter Clarke reveals more about his career and life in the Blackpool FC lowdown.

Who was your sporting hero growing up?

Before there were numbers on shirts my mum actually sewed my favourite player’s number on to my shirt, which was John Barnes. I had his number on my Liverpool shirt. I loved the attack minded players like him and Gazza (Paul Gascoigne).

What is your career highlight so far?

I’ve got a few. Making your first team debut is always something that sticks with you. Being Man of the Match in a Merseyside derby is something I’ll always treasure and I’ve also captained a team to promotion.

And the worst moment...

Losing a play-off final to Peterborough in 2011 (Joe will be rubbing his hands).

Who was your first junior football club?

Birkdale United in Southport.

If you could change one rule in football what would it be?

I’d want Blackpool to start games two goals in front.

Who is the best player in your position in the world currently?

I think Vincent Kompany is one of the best so I’ll go with him.

What is the one programme on TV you can’t miss?

I haven’t got time for TV programmes because I don’t watch much TV.

If you could have dinner with three famous people, dead or alive, who would you invite?

David Beckham, Nelson Mandela and Steve Black.

What is your trademark dish in the kitchen?

Spaghetti Bolognese.

In a film of your life who would play you?

I’m not sure if anyone has the boyish good looks or charisma. Brad Pitt.
