Addition To Coaching Staff ConfirmedAlan Thompson has been confirmed as part of Lee Clark's coaching staff after agreeing a one-year rolling deal.
The 40-year-old, who was in the dugout for matches against Ipswich Town and Fulham, takes up a position as a first-team coach at Bloomfield Road.
The former Bolton Wanderers, Aston Villa and Celtic midfielder was a team-mate of the manager's at Newcastle United and was most recently senior professional development coach at Birmingham City.
"It's been great so far," he told the official website. "We've known each other for a long time and hopefully that relationship will rub off on the rest of the players.
"We didn't have much time before the game on Saturday against Ipswich but we had a little more time before the Fulham game and I think it showed in how we approached the game and what we ended up with."
Given the club's current position in The Championship, Thompson insists that the immediate priority is to cut the gap between Blackpool and the other teams down at the bottom.
"All we've got to do is concentrate on narrowing that gap. When we narrow that gap we'll set another target. First and foremost we've got to narrow that gap and get as close as we can to the rest of them and then hopefully start overtaking them.
"Nothing's going to happen quickly but we're going to give it a right good go between now and the end of the season," he added.
