Youth Team Set For Preston Clash

28 November 2014

Side Bouyant Following Midweek Cup Win

Richie Kyle says his Blackpool Youth side are on a high after their midweek cup success against Burnley.

The young Seasiders face a trip to Preston North End on Saturday morning and Kyle is expecting another tough game for his side.

“It’s been a brilliant week but we know Saturday is going to be a big test,” he said. “The lads showed what they could do on Tuesday, bouncing back from the disappointment of last Saturday.

"We know we are so good going forward, with the players we have at our disposal we’re always going to create chances but it’s important to keep them out at the other end as well.

“We beat a good side on Tuesday and Preston will pose another big test for us. We know we’ll have to be at our best to get anything from the game, but if we reproduce Tuesday’s form then we have a great chance.”

Kyle admits that finding consistency has been difficult in the league, but he backed his side do so.

“Obviously it’s been tough at times this season with players missing through injury or suspension,” he said.

“It’s a very young group who have adapted well to what we’re trying to do here, but the lads do need to find that consistency. That is how we won the league last year and we need to iron out mistakes and see games out all the time. Tuesday was a perfect example of what was needed, ruthless up top and solid at the back. I was disappointed to concede one, especially after what had happened in the game against Shrewsbury, but the most important thing is getting the win.”

The Liverpudian also admitted that a couple of players might be doubts for the match, but nothing was yet confirmed.

“There are a couple of doubts for the game but there’s still a bit of time so we’ll look at the situation again. We have a squad here, not just eleven players, so I’ll have faith in any team I pick to go out there and perform well for us,” he added.
