Riga: A Big Disappointment

25 October 2014

Reaction To Reading Defeat

José Riga could not hide his disappointment following Blackpool's 3-0 defeat and display against Reading.

The Seasiders never really got to grips with the game at The Madejski and fell below the usual standards set by the manager.

"I am very disappointed because I didn't recognise my team. Normally we compete in a game and for most of a game we are more solid than we showed today," he said.

"Today we were nowhere and we were more spectators than a part of the game. It is a big disappointment for me."

Given Reading's run of form prior to the fixture, Riga had hoped his side could exploit any nervy moments.

"We knew before the game Reading's situation and that they wanted to react. I said that we could take advantage of this situation by frustrating them. We were just not able," he admitted.

"In our situation we have to do much more than the other team, individually and collectively. If you do less, then you are punished and we were punished today."
