Defender Answers Quick-Fire QuestionsRecently named Blackpool's Wonga Player of the Month for September, Donervon Daniels reveals a bit more about himself by answering some quick-fire questions.
Who was your sporting hero growing up?
Michael Jordan. For me he was massive in his sport and I took a lot of motivation as a young, black player from what he achieved as an individual. I don’t think anyone can imitate that but I believe that if you set your heights to that level, then if you fall anything short of that it will still be some achievement.
What is your career highlight so far?
I think my debut for Blackpool. Playing away at Nottingham Forest in front of 28,000 screaming fans was a massive achievement, even though we didn’t win. I made my Championship debut so it was a massive day for me and I loved every single minute.
And the worst moment...
I would say last year playing for Gillingham away at Rotherham. I didn’t have the best personal performance and the team got annihilated so it’s one day that I will not forgot. I will try and better that day every day because it taught me a few lessons.
Who was your first junior football club?
Homerton Rangers in Hackney.
If you could change one rule in football what would it be?
I’d have a video ref, like in rugby, that the referee can go to for important decisions like penalties.
Who is the best player in your position in the world currently?
Vincent Kompany is unbelievable but I still think that John Terry is the best in that position.
What is the one programme on TV you can’t miss?
Made In Chelsea.
If you could have dinner with three famous people, dead or alive, who would you invite?
I’d choose Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan and John Terry.
What is your trademark dish in the kitchen?
Salmon and boiled vegetables.
In a film of your life who would play you?
