Striker Delighted With WinnerThe wait is finally over for a Blackpool win, and match winner Francois Zoko was delighted to have played his part.
The striker's first goal for the club was a crucial one, as it dragged The Seasiders off the foot of the table.
Zoko fired home the only goal after the break, and confirmed it's a strike that will live long in the memory.
“When you go to a new club your first goal is memorable. Our first win will give me a lot of confidence, but more importantly the team,” said Zoko.
“It was the first time I'd been in this position, so I was comfortable and it was a good moment.
“It was my first chance in a few games, and I took it. It was a good ball from Joel (Dielna), everything was good to finish this action.”
It was the striker's tenth appearance for the club, and being employed on the wing didn't stop him bagging the crucial strike.
“It's not my best position, but I do it for the team. I tried to keep the shape, sometimes I want to go but I have to stay. I knew if I kept the shape and worked hard I'd get one chance.
“Tonight everything wasn't perfect, but the most important thing was the win. We worked hard on the training ground to get the result, this will give us more confidence to work for the future.
“We'll work hard this international break and expect to do better,” said Zoko.
