Clark On Reading Clash

7 April 2015

Pool To Welcome FA Cup Semi-Finalists

Lee Clark expects Reading's FA Cup semi-final to have no bearings on Blackpool's opposition at Bloomfield Road this evening.

The Royals have a Wembley date with Arsenal the weekend after next, but nevertheless Clark expects Pool will be in for a tough test.

“I imagine their players are playing for their place in the semi-final,” said Clark. “They'll be a team that's got a lot to play for.

“Steve Clarke will be looking in the next few weeks and saying to his players that they're playing for the opportunity to play at Wembley.”

A day after Blackpool's relegation to League One was confirmed, the manager explained work is already under way for the new campaign.

Encouraged by the last two displays, which wielded draws against Leeds and Bolton, Clark will be looking for more of the same tonight.

“In the last two games the players have showed me that they could be good enough to be around what we're trying to do and the changes that are going to be made.

“I'm planning and looking to the future. I'm working in the background trying to recruit players and speaking to agents. I'm speaking to the club and seeing which players will be surplus to requirements.

“We've been working on this for a while, so we're hoping that come the summer there will be good numbers through the door quite quickly,” he added.
