Manager Delighted To See Youngster CommitNeil McDonald says Bright Osayi-Samuel's professional contract at the club is 'fully deserved' following some impressive performances.
The manager has been full of praise for the youngster since taking charge and believes today’s news is something of a statement.
"This deal is fully deserved, he's shown me in pre-season and in the games we've played so far that this is the right place for him," McDonald said. "In the past one or two youngsters have left but hopefully this is a sign now that they are going to stay and play some games. Hopefully Bright will have a great career.
"He's ahead of schedule and has been involved with the first-team all pre-season since I've been here. He's got himself in the team and whether you're 16, 17, 18 or 19, you'll play if you're good enough."
The 17-year-old is one of two former youth team players currently in the side at Bloomfield Road, with Henry Cameron continuing to impress since agreeing a new, improved deal in the summer.
"Before I got here two young lads left and he's been the next young lad to come through, along with Henry Cameron. Both are now in the team and that's great.
"We've got two young lads in the wide positions and they've held their own and played some really good games so far. We've asked a lot of them but they've stood up to be counted. We've just got to be a bit patient and we'll see the end product come shining through," the manager added.
