Camp Buzzing For Season Opener
Neil McDonald says each and every one of his players is itching to pull on the Blackpool tangerine shirt in competitive action this weekend.
The boss could hand out as many as 11 debuts at Colchester United on Saturday, and after an unbeaten pre-season, says his side are raring to go.
“We’ll have a lot of players making their debuts in tangerine tops and they’ll be wearing them with huge pride,” said McDonald. “They can’t wait for the season.
“We’re really looking forward to starting on the front foot, trying to get that first victory on the road, because we want the supporters to enjoy traveling and watching their team play.”
One of those set for his competitive Pool bow is Emmerson Boyce, after the defender agreed terms this week, and McDonald believes his experience could prove invaluable to his side.
“He’s been in for the last week or so and you can see that everyone looks up to him, everybody is taking as much off him as possible with his experience.
“He knows what to do and how to do it, and hopefully he can be a big influence on the young players I’ve got at the club at the moment.
“We’ve got players who have loads of drive, energy and excitement. We’ve got to make sure we channel that in the right direction, and I’m sure the more experienced players in Colin (Doyle) and Emmerson (Boyce) can help me do that, especially on the pitch,” he added.
