Loan Striker Keen To Impress
Following an eye-catching first 45 minutes as a Blackpool player, Kwame Thomas says he’s chomping at the bit to impress while on loan from Derby County.
The striker joined the club on Wednesday and two days later made a positive impact after coming off the bench at Accrington Stanley.
Looking to add another dimension to Pool’s frontline, Thomas was a physical presence and will now knuckle down in the build-up to the season opener next weekend.
“We’ve got five training sessions before the game on Saturday so I’ll get my legs going and by Saturday I’ll be ready,” said Thomas.
“I had a chance at the end (on Friday) which I probably should have put away, but I’ll work on my finishing in training this week and hopefully put those away when it counts.
“My aim is to just work hard and try to get wins for the team. Hopefully personally I’ll get some goals and get recognition, and be the best I can be.”
With the big kick-off less than a week away, Blackpool will now take the lessons learned in pre-season, especially from Friday’s draw at Stanley, into the League One campaign.
“I think it was a strong performance going into the season, the team as a whole knew what they were doing.
“Everyone is still getting used to each other with quite a few of us coming in over the summer.
“We shouldn’t have conceded the goal right near the end, but on the whole it was a good game,” Thomas added.
