Lyness: Build On Last Clean Sheet

Stopper On Wigan Trip

Dean Lyness believes Blackpool’s spare weekend last time out won’t halt their momentum after victory against Fleetwood Town a fortnight ago.

The Seasiders return to action this weekend, buoyed after three points and an extended period to gain some rest.

The goalkeeper kept his first clean sheet against Fleetwood and expects both he and the team to play with confidence at Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

“We were disappointed to not have a game after winning because you want to keep the momentum going,” he said. “It’s not stopped us in training though.

“We’ve got some rest in and we’re buzzing for Saturday. We’ve been on the training pitch, we’ve done the work we’ve needed to do and we’ll be ready to go on Saturday.

“On a Saturday you go out at 3 o clock and everyone is on a level playing field. We’re going to Wigan to try and win ultimately. If we don’t come off the pitch with a win then hopefully it will be a draw,” he added.
