Manager On Oldham Fixture PostponementNeil McDonald says today's decision to postpone the match against Oldham Athletic was the right one for all concerned.
Heavy and persistent rain has fallen throughout Lancashire and resulted in weather warnings being issued for the county.
The surface at Bloomfield Road has been left saturated from the downpours and with the bad weather set to continue, the pitch was in no fit state to host a 3pm kick-off.
"David Dunn and myself were both in agreement with the referee's decision. The rain has been non-stop for 24 hours," the manager told the official website. "Parts of the pitch were deemed unplayable and further rain is set to fall throughout the day.
"It was important that an inspection was called early enough to stop fans of both clubs making unnecessary journeys."
The Blackpool players will now have a gym session and train as normal tomorrow, prior to setting off for Monday's Sky Bet League One fixture at Barnsley.
"Our preparations for the Barnsley game are unaffected, we'll stick to the schedule and look to build on our recent winning run," McDonald added.
