Pool Conclude 2015 In Yorkshire

Fixture| Barnsley vs Blackpool
Date| 28 December 2015
Venue| Oakwell

After the disappointment of their Boxing Day postponement, Blackpool will be keen to end 2015 on a high note with a fourth successive win at Barnsley on Monday.

The weather put pay to The Seasiders' fixture with Oldham Athletic, so the focus now turns to a trip to Barnsley, who sit four points behind Pool in the table.

Blackpool have won their last three matches against Fleetwood Town, Wigan Athletic and Peterborough United, and haven’t conceded a goal in those victories, so will be looking for more of the same.

The Opposition
Barnsley experienced a similar fate on Boxing Day, as their trip to Bury fell foul to the weather.

Prior to Christmas, The Tykes were beaten 2-0 by Wigan Athletic, which left them in the bottom four.

Lee Johnson’s men have won three times on home soil this season and have taken maximum points on just two occasions since September.

Team News
Saturday’s postponement gave Pool an opportunity to recover further, and McDonald will hope David Norris and Martin Paterson can shake off knocks.

Jack Redshaw and Colin Doyle will again be assessed, but Lloyd Jones and Henry Cameron remain out.

As for Barnsley, striker Ivan Toney has been recalled by Newcastle United, after making eight appearances while at Oakwell.

Captain Alfie Mawson is set to return, after being an unused substitute against Wigan.

Pre-Match Quotes
McDonald: "It's about time people start talking about Blackpool in a good light, the players want to be here and are trying their best for the shirt. The players are learning as we go along because we're still a young team in its infancy that only came together at the start of the season."

Johnson: "We will go again, we prepare the team right and do everything we can. Our performances have turned, we need to get through to January to make two or three quality additions. It’s always tough after a loss but we go again."
