Defender On First Festive Fixtures
Clark Robertson believes if Blackpool can come out of the Christmas period the right side of the dotted line then they’ll truly be able to kick-on.
The Seasiders are a point above the bottom four going into the first of the festive fixtures against Peterborough United on Saturday.
Their tails are up after two consecutive wins and Robertson believes it’s a physiological boost ahead of the next few weeks.
“That massive win took us out of the bottom four and mentally that’s a big thing going into the Christmas period,” he said.
“If we can stay out of it over the busy period then we’re only looking up. Hopefully we’re at the start of another good run and can pick up points all the way.
“Obviously Peterborough are free-scoring, but hopefully we can do the same job we did to Wigan by keeping a clean sheet and we’ll put the ball in the back of the net ourselves.”
The Scot has fused a strong partnership with Tom Aldred at the centre of Blackpool’s defence in recent months, and believes supporters are now seeing the best of them as a duo.
“We’ve played more than ten games together now, it was always going to take time to gel, but the best is coming now.
“Being the older one out of us two, he talks me through the games because he’s got a wee bit more experience.
“I think we’ve got a good partnership going and I was delighted for him to get the goal,” he added.
