Midfielder Looking Good For Saturday
Lee Clark is hopeful influential midfielder Jamie O'Hara will be passed fit for Saturday's relegation scrap with Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
O'Hara was forced off midway through Tuesday's defeat at Brentford, but has reacted well to the rib injury he picked up at Griffin Park.
“The lad is confident he's going to be fine for Saturday,” revealed Clark. “It's a huge boost because he'd be a big one for us to lose - he's been influential since he came through the door.
“He has been carrying a bit of an ankle problem for a few weeks, and also got a severe impact injury to the ribs, but that seems to have settled down overnight.”
O'Hara being passed fit has further significance for The Seasiders after fellow midfielder Andrea Orlandi was ruled out again.
The duo add creativity to Clark's side, but he'll be without the Spaniard, who is yet to recover from a thigh injury picked up against Nottingham Forest.
“When you're missing people like Jamie and Andrea Orlandi, two of your more technically gifted players, it becomes difficult for you," said Clark.
“We tried to work with Andrea today and he's not going to be ready for the weekend. When you've had a thigh problem it's quite difficult to come back within 12 to 14 days.
“We thank him for his efforts in trying to get fit for a huge game for us, but we fully realise the reasons he can't recover in time.”
Meanwhile Clark hopes to have Niall Maher fit again, and revealed Mark Waddington's operation was a success.
