Manager Reflects On Middlesbrough DefeatLee Clark was frustrated to see Blackpool lose out to Middlesbrough in a game he felt the team deserved something from.
An 88th minute header from Kike proved decisive on the night, coming after The Seasiders had drew level thanks to an own goal from Ben Gibson.
"Points aren't even enough, but it would have been a good point against a very, very good team who showed their versatility," Clark said. "They've changed their team around to adapt to the conditions and the style of the pitch. They've done it very well, and it shows you the quality they have. Good players can adapt to any type of surface."
The victory for Middlesbrough took them top of The Championship table, yet Blackpool more than matched them for large parts.
"I think we've gone toe-to-toe with them in every aspect. The disappointing thing for me is that we've conceded from a throw-in and a corner kick. We didn't deserve to lose the game, whether we deserved to win it is another thing. I'm frustrated because it's a blow that we've lost the game."
Youngsters Henry Cameron and Dom Telford once again started at Bloomfield Road and the manager praised them for their contributions.
"I'm really excited by what they've done and I think their temperament, in what's been difficult circumstances, has been terrific."
Attentions now turn to another home game on Saturday, one which Clark has labelled 'must-win'.
"We've got a huge game against Nottingham Forest which is a must-win game for us if we've got any aspirations of doing the impossible job," he added.
