Defender Happy To Stay
Defender Niall Maher says the lure of first team football encouraged him to remain with Blackpool for the rest of the season.
The youngster extended his stay from Bolton Wanderers this week, and has enjoyed what he's seen in his two Pool appearances so far.
“It's men's football now and it's a completely different kettle of fish,” said Maher. “As a young lad that's what I want to be doing, competing for three points.
“It's not just developing your football, it's about keeping Blackpool up. I'm up to the task, I know what it's about and I think I can make the grade.”
The 19-year-old's full debut was cut short last weekend, as he hobbled out of Ewood Park with a groin injury, but has received positive news this week.
“I was back on the grass on Thursday, getting back into running, so hopefully I'll be fit for the weekend.”
Now the youngster will focus on getting gametime for Blackpool, as well as keeping the club in the division.
“I'm here to play football, and now I know the situation Blackpool are in I'm going to try my hardest to help us stay up.
“I've enjoyed it since I've been here. The Gaffer Lee Clark has put his faith in me to play football, which is what I'm here to do,” said Maher.
