Clark: Not Good Enough

17 January 2015

Manager Unhappy With Wolves Defeat

Manager Lee Clark couldn't hide his anger following Blackpool's 2-0 loss to Wolves at Molineux.

Late goals from Dave Edwards and Benik Afobe sealed all three points for the home side, in a match where The Seasiders offered little attacking threat.

"It's frustrating and disappointing to concede so late in the game and it was just a crazy error for the second goal," Clark said.

"After the first seven or eight minutes of the second-half we weren't enough of a threat to Wolves, we played too deep and we were continually under pressure. It told in the end."

Given Blackpool's current position, the manager is keen to see more risk taking in order to get the points required to stay up.

"We've got to try and approach every game to win, and to win it you've got to take risks in the opponents' half," he continued. "You need to be good with your passing and get bodies in the box when you're crossing the ball, and we didn't do enough of that.

"The opposition play a part in making you go deeper but we certainly didn't help ourselves today in the second-half. We didn't give enough going forward to relieve that pressure."

Attentions now turn to strengthening the squad further ahead of next weekend's game at Watford. One player who won't remain with the club, however, is Chris Eagles whose contract expires tomorrow.

"We'll not be renewing Chris's contract, we'll be using the finance for that one elsewhere. We've got other areas where we need to strengthen," Clark confirmed.
