Defender Keen To Impress
Charles Dunne is keeping his feet firmly on the ground after being recalled to the Blackpool side in recent weeks.
After an impressive display at Aston Villa the defender helped Lee Clark's side to three points over Millwall on Saturday.
The 21-year-old has been forced to wait for regular football, so is now desperate to take his opportunity.
“It's been a long time coming. I've been wanting it for a while and obviously due to the circumstances I haven't had a chance, but now I've had it I've just got to take it.
“It was very frustrating to not be considered for the side, but football is all about opinions. I never doubted myself at all and now I'm playing I've forgotten what has past.
“I think I did well against Aston Villa especially, but it's about not getting carried away and keeping focused.”
It was Clark who handed Dunne his Seasiders debut in November, and the defender is now on seven appearances for the club.
“He told me he believed in me, and the manager saying that has got that extra bit out of me. You want to impress him to keep the shirt and do him proud.
“I'm mentally tough so just took any criticism on the chin previously. I'm pleased I hung in there because I was close to going out on loan.
“It's worked out for the best in the end, if I'd have been out on loan when the new manager came in maybe it wouldn't have worked out like this,” said Dunne.
