The Match: Aston Villa (A)

3 January 2015

Preview The FA Cup Tie

Aston Villa Vs Blackpool
Sunday 4 January 2015

Villa Park
On Sunday Blackpool travel to Villa Park with the welcome distraction of the FA Cup, and they'll look to spring a surprise on Premier League Aston Villa.
The Seasiders can put their league form to one side for the afternoon and will hope to make it into the fourth round for the first time in three seasons.
The clash will be Blackpool's first of 2015, and with the squad set to change in the coming weeks it provides an opportunity for players to shine.
Villa's primary aim, similarly to Blackpool, will be to avoid relegation come May, and they've not scored or conceded in their last two matches.
The sides last met in the Premier League four seasons ago and will hope to put on a show when the pressure is off.
Team News
Steven Davies has declared himself fit for the trip to Villa Park, having missed the Rotherham United clash with a neck injury. Ishmael Miller returns from suspension, but Gary MacKenzie and José Cubero aren't fit enough to feature yet.
Elsewhere Blackpool fans have seen the last of Donervon Daniels, Kevin Foley, John Lundstram, Stuart O'Keefe and Jacob Murphy, who all returned to their parent clubs this week.
Aston Villa will be without the suspended England international Fabian Delph, while Ron Vlaar limped out of their New Year's Day clash with Crystal Palace.
Nathan Baker looks likely to miss the clash through injury, as will Libor Kozak and Philippe Senderos.
In The Build-Up
Blackpool drew with Rotherham last time out thanks to a late Dom Telford goal, but did suffer defeat in their last away game at Sheffield Wednesday.
Aston Villa drew 0-0 in consecutive matches against Sunderland and Crystal Palace, but were beaten at Swansea on Boxing Day.
Recent Meetings
February 2011 was the last time the two sides met, as Elliot Grandin earned Blackpool a point at Bloomfield Road. Earlier that season Pool were defeated 3-2 at Villa Park, when Marlon Harewood and DJ Campbell were on target.
