Seasiders Victorious In First Friendly
A brace from new signing Mark Cullen helped Blackpool ease to victory in their first pre-season friendly at Lancaster City.
The striker followed up a clinical early strike by tapping home the third goal in a 3-1 Pool win at the Giant Axe.
Henry Cameron also added himself to the scoresheet in the first half, cancelling out Ryan Winder’s penalty for the non-league side.
There was a host of new signings donning tangerine for the first time, including Clark Robertson, Brad Potts and John Herron.
However, it was the non-league side that threatened first, with Aaron Taylor forcing Colin Doyle into his first save in a Blackpool shirt, getting down low to block the striker’s effort.
Soon after Blackpool opened their pre-season account, with Cullen capitalising on a stray pass from City’s Garry Hunter by firing into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
The lead proved just temporary however, after Charles Dunne was caught hesitating on the ball Matty Poole raced clear, and after rounding Doyle was tripped by the goalkeeper’s outstretched arm.
Winder was deadly from the spot, sending Doyle the wrong way to restore parity on 22 minutes.
And it took a piece of unselfish play to get Blackpool’s noses back in front just after the half hour mark. Cullen’s low cross fell perfectly for Herron, who rather than shooting rolled in Cameron to tap into an empty net.

After the interval Connor Oliver’s wayward shot was the first action of note, until Cullen’s second goal of the game arrived on 67 minutes.
Bright Osayi-Samuel’s invention down the left wasn’t initially rewarded when Herron was thwarted by Mike Hale, but the former Luton Town man was on hand to tap into an unguarded net to seal the victory.
The game was then brought to an end after 75 minutes with Blackpool 3-1 up.
