Midfielder On Making The Step Up
Jarrett Rivers is revelling in his first pre-season as a professional, having made the step up from Blyth Spartans to Blackpool this summer.
The 21-year-old’s star performances for the non-leaguers last season earned him a move to Bloomfield Road and his first week of pre-season training is almost complete.
A combination of gym work and training ground sessions have proved useful exercises for the midfielder, who is keen to take everything on board and improve.
“At Blyth we trained once or twice a week, so coming in every day is a big change,” he explained. “I’ve been alright so far and have actually felt quite good.
“It’s been difficult with all the running we’ve been doing, but that’s what the lads need to get the cobwebs off after the summer break.”
It provides a strange situation for Rivers, who was signed by Lee Clark, but returned for pre-season needing to catch the eye of Neil McDonald.
“Lee Clark brought me here, but obviously I’ve got a new manager to impress now so I’m looking forward to the challenge.
“All the lads are meeting each other at the same time and are a similar ago so hopefully that will work out for us on the pitch,” he added.
