Surface Work Well Underway
The new Bloomfield Road pitch has received its first trim this week and is progressing nicely, according to groundsman Stan Raby.
Almost a month on since 150 tonnes of fibre rootzone were applied to the surface, the grass is now starting to thicken.
“There has been extensive renovation work on the pitch,” explained Raby. “The fruits of the labour are now coming through.
“The pitch has had its first cut this week, as the grass is well and truly on its way. The work is on target as anticipated, and it will be ready in due course.
“We had a bit of a chilly start, but it’s coming along now and everything is going according to plan.”
Now it’s more of the same for Raby and his team, who are focused on giving Blackpool the best possible surface for the 2015/16 campaign.
“We’ll keep cutting it, feeding it and maintaining it. We’ll have it at a good condition before we cover it up for the concert, but that won’t affect it too much.”
The Seasiders’ first home game of the season on the new surface is on 15 August, when Rochdale visit Bloomfield Road.
