Defender Earns First Contract
Luke Higham has capped a fine personal weekend by signing his first professional contract with Blackpool FC.
Named the Youth Team's Players' Player of the Year on Friday evening, the 18-year-old has now agreed a one-year professional contract, with the option of a further season.
The left-back has impressed for Richie Kyle's side this campaign, particularly from set pieces, and has earned recognition from first-team manager Lee Clark.
On the bench for recent matches with Derby County and Cardiff City, Higham is expected to be involved in the squad to face Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Born in Blackpool and previously a Pool season ticket holder, the youngster has been with the club's academy since the age of eight.
On the deal, Higham said: “All my family support Blackpool and I'm a local lad which makes it extra special. The future is here and it's really exciting.”
