Defender Ready For Return
Tom Aldred feels refreshed and ready for a return to action, after his recent suspension allowed an opportunity to get a well-earned rest.
The defender collected his fifth booking of the season a week ago, so sat out of Tuesday’s cup tie at Wigan Athletic.
Now returning with a clean slate, Aldred can get back to business and help Blackpool’s mean defence return to form.
“It gave me a chance to recharge the batteries ahead of Saturday,” he explained. “I feel better for having the few days to recover for the Doncaster game.
“It’s unfortunate but some of the yellow cards I’ve needed to take for the team. It’s something I’m not used to though; I’m used to playing every minute of every game.
He continued: “I’m happy with my form, I feel great. I had a good pre-season and it’s the strongest I’ve felt in a season.”
The Seasiders have lost their last two league matches but Aldred is taking heart from their recent form on home soil – where they’ve avoided defeat on their last five outings.
“The two league games we’ve lost have been unfortunate in different circumstances. The league is our priority and we’ve got to look forward to our next fixtures.
“We’ve picked up points at home, have won big games at home and kept clean sheets.
“We’ve taken the lead and the fans are good here when we take the lead. It’s a massive plus point and something we can use in our armoury,” he added.
