Doyle Receives Injury Boost

Goalkeeper Given Good News

Neil McDonald received an injury boost this week, with Colin Doyle not requiring surgery on his injured ankle.

Initial fears were that the goalkeeper would be out for three months after suffering ligament damage in Blackpool’s FA Cup tie at Barnet.

However, that appears not to be the case and McDonald is targeting a Christmas return for the club captain.

“It’s a brilliant surprise and a big confidence boost for everybody,” said McDonald. “We said after Christmas but we’re hoping it might be before then, which will be an extra bonus.

“He’s a big player for us and when he’s not in the team we miss him. He’s a fantastic person around the changing room, keeps the spirits high and demands a lot off his team mates.

“We’re really happy that he might not be out for as long as we thought he would be from the start. He’s doing little bits of training in the gym and will gradually build up.”

Meanwhile, McDonald is hoping to have Hayden White fit for selection when Saturday’s fixture at Southend United arrives.

“Hayden White has trained for a couple of days which is great. We hope he has no reaction and if he’s OK he comes into the squad,” he explained.
