Find Out More About Pool's Defender

A regular at the heart of the Blackpool defence this season, Tom Aldred has proved a reliable customer for Neil McDonald since his arrival as manager.

Now we learn more about The Seasiders’ number 15, as he goes Under The Spotlight.

If you were the dressing room DJ, what three songs would be on your pre-match playlist?
I like Jay Z, Eminem and U2, so a bit of a mix there.

What is your favourite piece of football memorabilia that you own?
I won a watch on my debut for Carlisle for being Man of the Match. It came in a little box.

What is your favourite away stadium to play at?
I played away at Charlton when I was younger and that was a full house. It was when I was at Carlisle and they were trying to get in the play-offs, so it was a good atmosphere.

What is the biggest name in your phonebook?
Probably Terry Butcher. I was on loan at Inverness years ago so I’ve still got it.

What can you remember about your first job?
Cleaning boots as a youth team scholar at Carlisle. It was horrific but something you have to do.

To date, what is your most embarrassing moment in football?
I was late for training once as a youth team scholar because I went back to the train to get my hat and as I’ve gone to get off the doors have shut and I’ve ended up in Lockerbie in Scotland. I got battered at training.

What is the best sporting event that you’ve watched live?
I was at Old Trafford when Man United hammered Arsenal 6-1 and Dwight Yorke scored a hat-trick, which was great because I’m a United fan.

What were your first pair of football boots?
Black old school Predators.

What TV series are you addicted to currently?
I’m watching Entourage for the third time at the minute.

Including yourself, what four players in world football would be in your 5-a-side team?
Peter Schmeichel, Jaap Stam, Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo.
