Manager's Thoughts On Barnet Challenge
Neil McDonald has called on his players to rediscover their mean streak at the back against Barnet on Saturday.
The Seasiders are expecting a tough aerial test from their FA Cup hosts this weekend, but McDonald believes his defence can handle anything thrown at them.
“Barnet get the ball forward and work from there,” explained McDonald. “We’re going to have to be strong, just like we were the other night against Bradford.
“However, if we give free-kicks and corners away we’ll have to be a bit stronger than we have been in the last couple of games.
“Barnet will give 100 percent, just like their manager, so it’s going to be a challenge, but a challenge we’re certainly up for.”
Blackpool avoided a tradition FA Cup tie at a non-league club in round one, but nonetheless McDonald wants to continue his own impressive record in the competition.
“It’s easier playing against a professional outfit, playing a non-league side adds that little bit of pressure. We’re looking forward to the challenge and are certainly trying to progress to the next round.
“As a player I played in a final in 1989 against Liverpool. As a coach I’ve won a couple of games and the same as a manager, so hopefully we can keep that going,” he added.
