Blackpool On The Road
Fixture| Southend United vs Blackpool
Date| 21 November 2015
Venue| Roots Halls
Having taken a number of knocks in recent weeks, Neil McDonald will have prepared his Blackpool side to get back on their feet and fight back with a positive result at Southend United.
Last weekend’s defeat to Doncaster Rovers saw The Seasiders slip back into bottom four but after their first mid-week off this month, they’ll be ready to provide a reaction.
The loan signing of Andy Little adds another option to Pool’s front line and will increase their chances of claiming a second away league win of the campaign this weekend.
Promoted via the League Two play-offs in May, Southend have settled quickly into life at this level and have assembled a good run of form at Roots Hall.
Phil Brown’s side have avoided defeat in their last five matches at home but have gained a recent tendency for dropping points from winning positions recently.
Last week The Shrimps shot into a two-goal lead at Sheffield United, but had to settle for a point, like against Rochdale in their most recent league match at Roots Hall.
Striker Little is set for his Blackpool debut, while Hayden White could be fit for a return in Essex, which is a boost considering Emmerson Boyce still struggling.
Colin Doyle, Lloyd Jones and Henry Cameron all remain on the sidelines and won’t travel.
Southend had picked up a number of injuries at Bramall Lane, including Michael Timlin, who hasn’t trained this week due to a heel injury, but Ryan Leonard and Myles Weston are expected to be fit.
McDonald: “They’ll be a difficult team to play against, a difficult team to take points off. They’ve started off reasonably well, they’re up there and are competing.”
Brown: “They went through a period in October earning 14 points from six games, so that shows they are capable. This will probably be the most difficult game of the season because we’re probably the favourites to win the game.”
