Defender On Another Home Victory
In the second half this afternoon when Blackpool were forced to hold off Swindon Town to claim back-to-back wins, Tom Aldred typified the defensive commitment to a tee with a stand-out performance.
The defender, along with his team mates, threw his body in front of everything The Robins asked and was rewarded with the Man of the Match award come full-time.
The victory was Pool’s second of the week and left the players with a spring in their step when leaving Bloomfield Road.
“It was the best defensive display I’ve been involved in at the club,” said Aldred. “Blocking shots is something I like to do in games, it’s something I must be decent at because it keeps hitting me and I’m prepared to do it for the lads.
“Late on that element of doubt creeps in, but with back-to-back wins the place is bouncing and we’re looking forward to our next game already.”
Both Chesterfield and Swindon finished in the League One play-offs last season, making it an impressive six-point haul from The Seasiders, who are playing with visible confidence.
“After back-to-back wins we know we can compete with anyone in this league, especially today against Swindon. It’s been a great, morale-boosting couple of wins.
“It’s been a slow start, however we had to kick-on from the other night, and with the win today we’ve backed it up. It’s important now we kick-on up the league and look above us, rather than below us.
“The manager said home wins are like busses, so hopefully another bus comes along next home game,” Aldred added.
