Manager Looks For Attacking ImprovementNeil McDonald is looking for more expression in attack ahead of Blackpool's home game against Crewe Alexandra tomorrow.
The manager, quick to praise the team's defensive improvements in recent weeks, now wants to see a cutting edge in the opposition's penalty area.
"The defensive side of our game is really solid and I'm really pleased with that, but we need to express ourselves and take a little bit more care with the ball in the final third," he said. "If we do that, we'll create more chances. We need to stick the ball in the net more than we have been doing."
This weekend's visitors to Bloomfield Road will no doubt prove resolute, however the onus will be on Blackpool to break them down.
"They keep the ball, they pass and move and they have lots of rotation. They'll play 4-3-3 but they'll play 4-5-1 when they haven't got the ball, so we need to move the ball on quickly, we need to adjust our position quickly and we need to have an end product to give ourselves a chance of breaking them down," the manager continued.
An upturn in fortunes on home soil has seen the team pick up eight points from a possible 12, which is a pretty solid and promising return and something the players are determined to build on.
"Hopefully it's becoming a little bit of a fortress and not a very nice place for the opposition teams to come and try and pick up points off us," McDonald added.
