Winger Enjoying His Football
Bright Osayi-Samuel believes the relationship he’s struck up with manager Neil McDonald is getting the best out of him on the pitch.
At just 17, the winger been a regular fixture in and around the Blackpool side all season and started in Saturday’s victory over Crewe Alexandra.
Continuing to catch the eye with his pace and skills, Osayi-Samuel is developing both on and off the pitch, which he says is testament to the manager.
“The Gaffer has put his trust in me and I’ve got to repay it,” he explained. “I feel confident when I come on because I know I have his backing. I’m able to play with no fear and express myself.
“Since signing my pro deal I’ve been able to really concentrate on the two years I’ve got ahead of me. I’ve got to get goals and try to assist, and improve game by game.
“As a young player you’ve got to show the manager that you really, really want to be on the pitch and I’m always doing anything to make sure he knows that.”
Osayi-Samuel is competing alongside the likes of Henry Cameron and Jarrett Rivers for a starting slot out wide, which is getting the best out of all three in training, he believes.
“In training everyone is trying to go that extra mile, do something different from the rest, they’re really good signs to show how the whole team is improving and that correlates with our results.
“They’re encouraging times out there, we’re gelling together now and you can see that with the results. Now we’re out of the relegation zone we can get our season up and running, and aim for higher places,” he added.
