Goalkeeper Answers The Questions

Since Colin Doyle’s opening day injury, Kyle Letheren has deputised between the sticks and will hope to keep the gloves once his colleague returns in the coming weeks.

The goalkeeper has started the last five matches and now goes under the spotlight, answering our ten quick questions.

If you were the dressing room DJ, what three songs would be on your pre-match playlist?
I like my bands, so a song each from Mumford & Sons, Oasis and Stereophonics.

What is your favourite piece of football memorabilia that you own?
My dad’s European Cup runners-up medal. He was sat on the bench in the 1975 final for Leeds. It’s in a glass cabinet at my parents’ house and mine for keeps.

What is your favourite away stadium to play at?
Being a Leeds United fan I’d say Elland Road. I’ve managed to play there once or twice and it’s been a dream. The atmosphere is always great but I’ve always lost there.

What is the biggest name in your phonebook?
I’d say Chris Coleman from my time with Wales.

What can you remember about your first job?
I had a paper round in my last year at school. I used to go around on my bike with a balaclava on in the morning and got paid £12 a week for it.

To date, what is your most embarrassing moment in football?
It was in the final game of last season, a Dundee derby on TV. I came for a through ball and missed it, it’s gone through my legs and the striker just tapped it in. That put them 1-0 up and it set the tone for a 3-1 defeat.

What is the best sporting event that you’ve watched live?
When Wales won the Grand Slam in the rugby at Cardiff in 2005. I was in the stands and we beat Ireland. I remember Land of my Fathers going around the stadium which was probably the best atmosphere I’ve experienced.

What were your first pair of football boots?
Umbro Specials. Black with the tongue. They were the cheapest boots available to see if I was any good and I turned out OK.

What TV series are you addicted to currently?
Entourage is the best series ever. I could demolish a whole season in a day. I want to come back as Vinnie Chase in my next life.

Including yourself, what four players in world football would be in your 5-a-side team?
Fabio Cannavaro, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Lionel Messi.
