Manager Delighted With VictoryNeil McDonald praised his side following a clinical performance against Chesterfield that resulted in Blackpool's first home win of the season.
Goals from Mark Cullen and Brad Potts helped The Seasiders bounce back from Saturday's showing at Shrewsbury with a season best display.
"The performance was as good as we've had this season," the manager beamed. "We certainly scored the goals to kill them off and we could have scored a few more. It was a great response from Saturday, I asked the boys to up the tempo and try and stop the opposition from playing, and we certainly did that."
The victory at Bloomfield Road was Blackpool's first since January and could well now prove a catalyst for future performances.
"Even some of the players who were here last season hadn't experienced a win at home so everybody is really happy in the changing room, which they should be after the performance."
"It's vitally important that you try and win your home games and we hadn't done that so far. When the second goal went in you could hear the sigh of relief from the whole of the crowd. It's great that the fans have seen their team win for the first time at home with a really good performance. Now let's see what we can do against Swindon on Saturday."
The only sour note of the evening was the departure of Lloyd Jones to injury in added time, with the defender taking a knock to his ankle with seconds to go.
"He's had a little bit of a kick on his ankle so we'll see how it settles down and give an update on Thursday," the manager confirmed.
