Paterson Relishing Blackpool Challenge

17 September 2015

New Signing Raring To Go

Martin Paterson is relishing the opportunity to fire Blackpool up the League One table, after agreeing terms at Bloomfield Road on Monday.

The striker, who is still waiting on international clearance, will be in line to make his Pool debut on Saturday, should it arrive in time.

Having watched the club’s victory at Scunthorpe United and trained with the squad for two weeks, Paterson is looking forward getting fully involved.

“I’ll bring experience, but what I’ve always brought is enthusiasm for just playing football,” he said. “I’ll only get stronger and better as the games go on, but if required I’m ready to go on Saturday.

“I’m a strong character mentally, so I’m ready to bounce back from my injuries and prove people that may doubt me wrong at Blackpool.

“I like to think I’m a winner. I’m confident enough to know that if I’m fully fit and remain on the field I can give performances that warrant wearing a Blackpool shirt.”

The Seasiders go into Saturday’s clash with Barnsley searching for a first home win of the season and Paterson has been impressed with the squad in place.

“The manager wants to win and be successful. He has a young squad, but is confident things will turn, and from training with the squad and being in and around it I’d agree.

“I can see in training there’s a lot of talented footballers here, sometimes it can be a result away from home like Scunthorpe that kicks you on. If we keep going, I’m sure the manager will say, it will turn,” he added.
