Thomas Aims To Build On Morecambe Performance

Striker Impresses In Lancashire Senior Cup Victory

Kwame Thomas hopes that a confidence boosting goal and all-round good performance against Morecambe will help him stake his claim for a first-team spot.

The 19-year-old striker, currently on loan from Derby County, scored and won a penalty in a 4-2 Lancashire Senior Cup victory at Bloomfield Road yesterday.

Afterwards the England Under-20 international praised the players involved for backing up the first-team's result against Scunthorpe United last weekend.

"For most of us first-team players it was about getting fitness, but you always want to get into winning habits," he told the official website. "It was good to win, personally to get a goal and good for the team to win together."

"All the lads played well, a lot of the youngsters from the 18s played and were terrific as well. They did themselves no harm. I think everybody put pressure on the lads that are starting to show that we're ready if called upon."

Thomas has made six appearances for Blackpool so far this season, with five of those coming off the bench. As he looks to make an impact on the side, his performance yesterday will have been noted by the coaching staff.
"It was crucial for me to get 90 minutes just to get my sharpness back and get my legs going. That will aid me well going forward.

"I'm here on loan and I want to play, as does everybody else. Hopefully I've done myself justice to show that I can hopefully start playing games," he added.
