Wrexham 3 Blackpool 0
Blackpool’s Youth Team were eliminated from the Youth Alliance Cup after a comprehensive second-half display by Wrexham at the weekend.
The Seasiders held their own in the opening 45 minutes, and could have led at the break had Elliott Pond enjoyed a better connection on his weak header.
Ryan Williams hit the post for the Welshman, who were left frustrated when Danny Roberts blazed over from a corner.
However, after the break they found their clinical side, and Leroy Jennings got the ball rolling by latching onto a long throw and firing home from 12 yards out.
Their second came from the penalty spot, after Jamie McColl had been upended in the box, with the striker dusting himself off to fire beyond Jack Sims.
Sam Roscoe’s header came close to reducing the deficit, but instead Wrexham added further gloss to the scoreline when Jordan Davies’ strike was deflected home.
Tyler Rufus, Macauley Wilson and Alieu Nije all came close to restoring some Pool pride late on, as they suffered a second successive defeat.
