Blyth Delighted With Victory
Jacob Blyth was full of praise for his team mates after his first goal for the club helped seal a 2-0 victory over Southend United at Bloomfield Road.
The striker gobbled up his opportunity 11 minutes from time, as Blackpool moved to 45 points after making it a fourth game unbeaten.
The victory was thoroughly deserved and the Leicester City loanee was in high spirits come full-time.
“I thought we were brilliant from the off,” he explained. “We were on the front foot from the very beginning, creating loads of chances. We were the better team today and thoroughly deserved the three points.
“I was delighted to get my first goal and put them to bed. I saw Mark (Cullen) running down the right, I’ve given a little check and pulled off. The first touch has got it out my feet and I’ve just smashed it in the bottom corner.”
There were further positive signs on show at Bloomfield Road, as Blyth and Mark Cullen linked up well all afternoon in attack.
“You’ve got the big guy, little guy up front. It works for some teams and I think we’re really starting to click now.
“He’s running in behind and judging my flicks so I’m really enjoying playing up front with him at the moment.”
Despite the majority of Pool’s rivals picking up points on Saturday, the win continues their momentum and increases the gap on the bottom four.
“We’re slowly getting to where we want to be. I’ve only been here three games, we’ve conceded one goal and the defensive unit has been brilliant from the front all the way to the back, and we’re going to look to build on that,” said Blyth.
